Keap x Studio Fishball Matchbox Set
The set contains three jumbo matchboxes, each featuring a unique illustration by Studio Fishball.
Each matchbox contains 40+ extra-long (4-inch) wooden matches.
The limited-edition series celebrates three plants native to the Hudson Valley.
Depicted in Studio Fishball’s signature style with nods to traditional printmaking techniques, each plant is shown in various phases of its lifecycle from flower to fruit and joined by a fluttery symbiotic partner.

About the Collaboration
Inspired by edible fruits native to New York’s Hudson Valley, this limited-edition matchbox trio was created in collaboration with Studio Fishball.
The Keap team was drawn to Yiting and Justin’s unique illustrative style, which honors traditional printmaking techniques and expresses a yearning for a return to nature.
The Mayapple
Visited by the White Slantline Moth
A Mayapple (Podophyllum peltatum) blossom offers camouflage to a White Slantline Moth (Tetracis cachexiata), who uses its umbrella-like white petals to conceal itself.
The PawPaw
Visited by the Zebra Swallowtail Butterfly
Pawpaw (Asimina triloba) leaves are toxic, and it’s able to pass that quality on to Zebra Swallowtail Butterfly (Protographium marcellus) caterpillars that feed exclusively on its leaves, making them unpalatable to most predators.
The Virginia Strawberry
Visited by the Gray Hairstreak Butterfly
The Gray Hairstreak Butterfly (Strymon melinus) lays its eggs on newly emerging leaves of Virginia (Fragaria virginiana) trees, leaving just one egg per leaf.

About Studio Fishball
Yiting Nan and Justin Zhang
We were captivated by Yiting’s printmaking-inspired style, and gentle, yet striking approach to illustration and design. She and her creative partner, Justin Zhang, were ideal collaborators to help us celebrate our local native plants and the companions they nourish.
Studio Fishball’s emerging body of work has already collected an impressive array of awards and been covered by renowned design publications.

How long will the matchbox trio be available?

Only 100 sets were assembled, and they will be available until they are sold out. We recommend shopping early to ensure you can get them before they are gone.
These matchbox sets make an excellent gift (if we do say so ourselves), so if you have any candle-burning pros, nature enthusiasts, art and design experts, and butterfly lovers on your holiday shopping list, this is a great opportunity to cross a few of those folks off early this year!
Are single boxes available?

These designs are currently only available as a set. Later in the year, Keap subscribers will have access to order individual units in the subscriber portal. Can I include a gift note?

Absolutely. In the cart there is a field to enter a personal gift note. We hand-write every gift note on a card and include it alongside your gift.
Can a gift receipt be included instead of the price?

Please note that our default shipping service for orders including matchboxes is USPS Ground Advantage, and expedited shipping is not available for matches. In order to comply with regulations and keep our carriers safe, matches can only be transported via ground.

Due to the limited availability of the trios, these sets will only be available for one-time orders while supplies last, and these designs will not be available for individual purchase this season. However, we will be sending out individual matchboxes from this collaboration for your anniversary shipments!
