This post was originally shared in our email newsletter on November 20, 2023.
Earlier this month, we asked our community for haikus celebrating under-appreciated people in their lives. The response was astounding.
We finally managed to post all the entries we received here. It felt like such a gift to receive such a diverse range of beautiful appreciations, ranging from celebrations of our farmers to our teachers, mothers and friends. Every single one had something special and unique that set it apart.
I urge you to take a few minutes to read through them (and make sure to click the “Read more” buttons for valuable context around each haiku). Especially if you are struggling to get through your day, it may just give you the boost you need.
And if you authored one of these beautiful dedications, hats off to you. I encourage you to share your haiku (or this page) directly with your nominee—or perhaps even give them a phone call if you haven’t spoken to them for a while. (Also, how did you feel when drafting your haiku? I’m really curious to hear!)
It was also exciting to see the rest of our community come out to celebrate these expressions of gratitude. Many of you helped us pick finalists who will get to send a full-size candle to their nominee and a $50 nomination to their chosen nonprofit.
I’m now excited to share the results of that vote, and to open our second and final round of voting. We will be voting to select one haiku for an even greater gift. The poem’s nominee will receive a yearlong monthly candle subscription and we will make a $500 donation to the writer’s chosen nonprofit.
See our final 5 haikus and vote for your favorite here!
Voting closes this Friday, November 24 at 11.59pm EST.
With gratitude,
— Harry from Keap, Steward-Owner
